Good morning and welcome to another Outer Banks beach report. This is Brandon from Seaside Vacations and I snapped the photo above this morning around 8:30 a.m. at Raleigh Avenue public beach access in Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina.

Hope everyone is well rested and getting acclimated to the time change. Only 10 days until spring starts!

Beach Report
The beach this morning was nothing short of perfect. The wind was calm, the waves were great, and there was plenty of sunshine. In addition to the perfect weather, there was plenty of wildlife to look at, including over 100 seagulls and about a dozen dolphins swimming along the top of the ocean water. It’s certainly a great way to start a Monday morning.

High temperatures today are expected to be in the low 60s and there is zero threat of a rain shower today. Expect wind gusts from the W at no more than 8 mph throughout the day – perfect conditions for a long walk on the beach. Good news is that tomorrow’s weather forecast looks just as good as today if not better.

Surfing Report
The nor’easter that impacted the Outer Banks late last week left behind great waves this past weekend. Despite the freezing ocean water temperatures (40 degrees), many local surfers paddled out and enjoyed the clean, waist to head high breaks along the coast.

Surf this morning is about waist high and clean, and if you have the appropriate clothing, today would be a great day to go surfing.

Fishing Report
A few boats sailed out of Oregon Inlet yesterday, and one boat brought in a 655 pound bluefin tuna. Today and tomorrow should be fairly busy for charters out of both Pirates Cove and Oregon Inlet. Reports of good puppy drum fishing on the southern Outer Banks beaches.

Thanks for checking out today’s beach report and remember there are two major events happening on the OBX this weekend. Kelly’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade starts at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, and the 2014 Outer Banks Taste of the Beach begins this Thursday.

We hope to see you soon…. Have fun!
